APPLICATION

Fulao2's Physical Therapy Program will accept applications through Physical Therapy Centralized Application Services (PTCAS). Applicants should submit all admission documents through PTCAS. Do not send any supporting documents directly to WCU. 

For the DPT program, the priority application deadline is October 15th. The final application deadline is March 15th.

For the PTA-to-DPT program, the final application deadline is March 15th.

Use the following checklist to assist you in this process:

  • Familiarize yourself with the Physical Therapy Centralized Application Service (PTCAS) at 
  • Create an application account at 
  • Obtain student copies of your college transcripts to assist you in completing the coursework section for the application.
  • Request official transcripts from each institution attended by using the transcript request form in PTCAS.
  • Complete the GRE in sufficient time to allow for retesting, if necessary, to achieve the minimum combined score of 290. Request that all official score reports be sent to PTCAS using institutional code 7400.
  • After submitting your application, monitor your PTCAS dashboard to ensure that all required materials have been received and that your application has been verified. Please note that it may take up to five weeks for an application to move from "Complete" to "Verified."

The PTCAS organization will verify your application for accuracy, calculate your GPA and send your materials to the Doctor of Physical Therapy admissions department at Fulao2.

Admission to the DPT program is competitive in nature, and students with strong academic backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Students will be admitted to the program in the Fall term of each year, based on the following requirements:

  • Complete a Baccalaureate Degree (applicant’s choice) from an accredited college or university OR be in the senior year of undergraduate study.
  • Complete Additional Pre-Requisite Courses (if not taken to complete your BS degree)

Two Biological Science Courses 2 courses; Excluding Botany and Zoology
Chemistry I and II 2 courses in sequence
Physics I and II 2 courses in sequence
Human Anatomy (preferred) 1 course

    OR Anatomy and Physiology (I & II) 2 courses in sequence ( instead of separate Anatomy and Physiology courses)
Psychology 1 course

*All pre-requisite courses must have been completed within 10 years prior to application
*No more than 2 pre-requisite courses can be outstanding upon completion of the Fall term of the year of application
*Applicants must have a grade of C or better in all pre-requisite courses

  • Achieve a minimum pre-requisite GPA of 3.0
  • Minimum of 3.0 GPA: overall OR on the last 60 hours of graduate/undergraduate coursework
  • Complete 40 total hours of observation under a physical therapist in two different locations. Must be verified and submitted electronically to PTCAS.
  • Submit Official GRE scores (within last 5 years) verbal, analytical and written by the application deadline. Minimum score of 290 required (Quantitative and Verbal). Submit to PTCAS using Institutional Code 7400.
  • Complete all sections of the PTCAS application. The Admissions Committee is looking for well-rounded applicants with good time management skills. Be sure to complete all sections of the PTCAS application to allow the committee a glance at the applicant’s out of class involvement as well as their academic performance.

  • Complete a Baccalaureate Degree (applicant’s choice) from a regionally accredited college or university OR be in the senior year of undergraduate study.
    • OR complete three years of undergraduate education that includes lower and upper-division coursework AND meet the Minor-Equivalent Requirement
      • Minor-Equivalent Requirement: Upper-division coursework (300-400 level) in one discipline (e.g., Biology, Psychology, Exercise Science, Mathematics) which is equivalent of a minor at Fulao2
  • Complete Additional Pre-Requisite Courses (if not taken to complete your BS degree)

  • Hold an unencumbered PTA license. Must have practice experience as a licensed PTA totaling the equivalent of 2 full-time years. Part-time experience may be aggregated to meet this requirement.

Be sure to complete all sections of the PTCAS application to allow the committee a glance at the applicant’s out of class involvement as well as their academic performance.

Currently, Fulao2 DPT program and PTA-to-DPT program does not interview applicants to the program as part of the review process. Prospective students are encouraged to attend one of our upcoming DPT 2B Informational Session. Please contact us at  601-318-6584, for an appointment if desired. 

Students should be prepared for extra expenses associated with professional studies including background checks, medical screenings (including drug testing) books, local travel to and from clinical facilities, and out-of-town travel and living expenses associated with clinical internships. Each student is required to have a laptop computer or tablet.

The tuition for the Fulao2 Doctor of Physical Therapy Program has been set at $37,000.00 per academic year. A nonrefundable seat fee of $600.00 is due upon acceptance to the program. The seat fee will be credited toward tuition upon enrollment in the WCU DPT program and WCU PTA-to-DPT program. This tuition includes all lab fees, technology fees and professional liability insurance.

As part of program accreditation, Fulao2 DPT program prepares a Financial Fact Sheet listing key financial information such as estimated cost of attendance and average debt levels.
